Asbury Theological Seminary Redesign: My Edition
September 18, 2008
Awhile back I was asked to submit a few designs for the redesign of Asbury Theological Seminary. In the end my design wasn’t chosen, however being very proud of it I thought I would put it here.

This is the front of the design, it would have been the Seminary’s homepage.

This part of the design was set to automatically rotate through a pre-determined set of photos. However, should the user click on one of the “event banners” to the right they would be presented with an advertisement in the photo space.

I wanted to take a more visual approach to our news, supplying a photo per article. I thought this would draw the user into the article and break up the news.

This is an example of how the second page of this design could have looked.

This is a close-up of the secondary navigation found on any page other than the front. The block of text was supposed to explain what this particular section of the site was all about and then deliver the important links to our users.

Not only did I want to see something other than a square search box, but I wanted to bring a bit of personality to the site. An example of this is seen in the “Need to find something? Try our sitemap” text. To me, this seemed intuitive and does not assume that the person knows that there is a sitemap or what a sitemap is, nor does it assume that the user has no idea what a sitemap is.

I love typography, and I wanted to bring that to the Seminary’s design. This shows one idea of what I would have liked to do with the typography.
