Innovation is a Balancing Act

This point has come up in a few conversations this week, regarding what I can’t say… But I thought I’d throw it out there.

I think that sometimes the best innovation is not found in building something new and exciting but in making something deliverable and stable.

I guess it could also be said that innovation is occasionally the act of cleaning up the mess of someone else’s forward thinking idea. In this case, innovation is often overlooked but still present.

And, too, sometimes our ideas are so forward thinking that they are not as actionable as we would like. Spending too much time on the most futuristic thing could actually keep us from producing something that fits the need we have right now.

So, I guess you could say the art of being innovative is a series of balancing acts.
